The program will take place over a period of 28 days. The patients will undergo a treatment plan to be described below. At the end of the period and by evaluation of commission criteria that runs the center and support institutions, a decision will made as to whether to continue as an outpatient for follow up or be transferred to the Rehabilitation Center. The program will be done in stages as follows:
STAGE I
Medical and psycho-social evaluation of the patients (with the indications and prescription) in order to develop a treatment plan to be followed during their voluntary stay sponsored by a member of alcoholics anonymous or by a family member who will take responsibility for their admission (Annex 2). Admission by the administrator, who will set up the file, explain the routine and indicate the internal patient regulations (Annex 3) and then begin the treatment indicated.
STAGE II
The treatment plan will start by providing students with motivation, starting to make them feel a fundamental part of their own recovery and of the School, as well. An introduction will be made to the concept of the disease in all of its stages (physical, mental, social and spiritual) and the student will be told the possible symptoms and/or situations they may experience during their period of abstinence in order to inspire a trusting environment. Also they will receive a general explanation of the recovery concept and what the Twelve Step recovery program consists of.
Subsequent to this, work on the FIRST STEP is expected to begin with readings from the Blue Book (The Doctor’s opinion, chapters 1, 2 and 3) Preparation of self diagnosis and the guide will have other support materials available such as the 12 and 12 book and associated literature. The student will also be asked to complete some exercises (in writing) on an individual and/or group basis depending on the process and the students´ needs.
The student will be asked to write a brief summary of important or significant events from their childhood and adolescence. (Material for later use).
We should indicate that the student must perform some chore or activity that they do not like, in order to begin work at the same time with STEP THREE. The estimated time to complete the work is less than one week.
However, each student will be evaluated in order to determine if he is in condition to continue on to the following step.
SECOND AND THIRD Step: This will begin with each student's personal concept of a HIGHER POWER establishing a correlation between drugs and the possible role that such higher power could have played (for each student).
They will work on the reading and analysis in Chapter 4 of the blue book (Agnostics) The student will also be given a more in-depth explanation of the recovery program.
During these days the guide will check to see if the student has done the chore(s) assigned during the first week.
If after this the student wants to continue with recovery and shows true conviction to carry out the program, a joint evaluation will be made to see if they can start working on steps 4 and 5.
STAGE III
The plan is for the student to start on the fourth step during the second week and at the end of that week the student can work on step 5.
They can receive their first visit.
Once the student completes these 2 steps, a required list will be prepared with the help of the guide for working on STEPS SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT AND NINE.
Practicing Steps SIX AND SEVEN on a daily basis.
STAGE IV
Steps EIGHT AND NINE:
A family meeting will be scheduled for the third week in order for the student to work on Step 9 which has to do with family work. At the same time, the student, with the help of the guide, will be working on STEPS TEN, ELEVEN AND TWELVE.
At the end of the day the student will prepare a written personal inventory together with his thoughts. In conjunction with the above the student will provide services by helping another student and participating in the meetings. STEPS TEN, ELEVEN AND TWELVE.
The student will continue working on these steps continuously and on a daily basis, since they are considered a fundamental part of their spiritual follow-up process.
By the fourth week the student must have a sponsor, who will be his guide and will also plan with him any possible activities for when he leaves the School. (Follow up / work / others)
The subject of reinsertion into society will be discussed.
During this stage the evaluation process will be considered in order to take any corrective measures. The graduate will be referred to AA-NA and CAID/IAFA outpatient counseling.
If necessary and in case of complications, the student will be sent to the nearest health center or hospital with the respective reference (Annex 4).
